in the beginning
I’ve been in love with photography for as long as I can remember.
I actually just found a letter I wrote to myself addressed:
From Myself at 12 to Myself at 22
The first thing I said was “Hi! This is me at 12! Do you still want to be a photographer?”
Yes, baby Becca, I do.
I did my first paid session when I was 18 and photographed my first wedding when I was 20, but it was about 4 years ago that I decided to really embrace photography as a business.
It took me a long time to feel confident not only as a photographer but as a business owner, but I’m so glad I made the leap.
It’s absolutely the best job I’ve ever had.
Hello, it’s me…
My name is Rebecca.
I’m a photographer, musician and lady-human living in South-East Michigan (or in-between 10 Paneras as I like to say), doin’ life with my husband and BFF Neall, and dreaming about the dogs we’ll have when we finally get a house.
I’m originally from Utica, NY and moved to Michigan in 2016. Utica is not remotely close to NYC, but it is a wonderful little city and I am still a huge advocate for it. If you ever find yourself in Upstate NY, I would love to give you the scoop on all the best spots to check out.
Some of my other passions include (but are hardly limited to):
Making spaces beautiful & homey
Songwriting & playing music
Good smells | Good friends | Good food
Deep conversations & stand up comedy
what to expect when you’re expecting (a photoshoot)
I would loosely describe my style as fine-art/emotional/documentary.
My #1 priority is always capturing your real feels and creating an environment where you’re comfortable.
I am a big time feeler, so I think that helps my clients to be comfortable letting their feelings out. It’s hard to be embarrassed that you’re tearing up thinking about how much your partner means to you when your photographer is already crying about how beautiful it all is.
I also like to get a little artsy-fartsy and I’m always on the lookout for locations that wrap ya’ll up in a big beautiful hug.
My editing style is pretty true-to-life, but leaning a little bit on the warm & clean side. Think of it like a beautiful lady who is in fact wearing makeup but you can’t tell.
I will pose you somewhat but also give you prompts of things to do so you’re not just standing there cheesing until your smile goes stale. More than anything I want this to be a fun experience for errybody, so we’ll put on some tunes and let the good times roll.
I also LOVE clear communication. I want you to know exactly what to expect from me, and I always want to know if you have questions or concerns or need help with anything. I am the girl who wants someone to tell me if there’s something in my teeth, and I’ll do the same for you.
If you got through all of that and feel like we could be a good fit, shoot me a message.
I’d love to hear from you!
