IN California, there was this bar called Sidecar that I loved going to with my gal pal Lauren, who was also my musical other-half and band-mate in the band Scouts Honor.
Sometimes before practice, we would go to Happy Hour and snag some of the most delicious cocktails; my favorite one was called the Jalapeno Bees Knees. Despite being terrified of bees, I sure love the things they do. For example, bees throw up honey; that's pretty amazing. If I threw up honey, I might not hate throwing up so much.
I've been missing these afternoon times with my friend, so I looked up the recipe, and was excited to see it was super easy to make.
Jalapeno Bees Knees
Prep Time: 4 minutes
Total Time: 4 minutes
Yield: 1 Cocktail
- 2 ounces gin
- 3/4 ounce honey syrup
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 3 small, very thin slices of jalapeno
- Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with jalapenos
- Fall in love
And because this drink will forever make me think of the short (and hopefully not completely concluded) time we were playing as Scouts Honor, here's the first song Lauren and I wrote together. The day before this video was recorded, actually.
